Safety Context: Most UK families are wired with a PME system (Protective Multiple Earth). These systems have the potential for a rare fault called neutral failure, where an upstream disconnection could increase the risk of electric shock.
How it Works: For TN-C-S systems without grounding at the user's end, if the PEN line is cut off due to a fault, the protective ground PE voltage can become equal to the fire line L voltage.
Why It Is Critical: Without this protection, the shell of an EV being charged could carry a lethal voltage. Our charger detects this condition and disconnects to prevent leakage currents from exceeding dangerous levels (30mA - 100mA), ensuring user safety.
